As a start for the next generation of the Five Points/Sinners universe, Zach and Denny make for an excellent first couple. We dive right in with Zach practically being hit in the head realizing that Denver, his lifelong best friend, is actually who he wants to be with.
I absolutely love the friendship Denny, Zach and Pecan have. I love how close they all are from the beginning. Once Zach starts to see Denny as a viable sexual partner, his progression to obsessed and down bad happen so fast its cute. Denny, on the other hand, is much more guarded and careful, as she feels it is too good to be true.
The friend group they pull together at Oakwood College, filled with characters seen in other books from the Five Points/Sinners series, is a lot of fun too. Callan gets a lot more presence in this book as well, so we see a lot of his personality coming out. I can't wait for his book.
There is a lot of family drama to be had with both Zach and Denny throughout the book which runs the gamut from fresh grief to issues stemming from Denver's parents' divorce. So while there is plenty of dirty, dirty spice, there is also a huge range of emotional moments to keep you going between those scenes.
My favorite part is probably Denny coming into her own as the PR fixer of her dreams. She is clearly a mastermind to rival that of Star Sullivan's brand of chaos and machinations. I wish I could be as ballsy and badass as her when I grow up.
Overall I recommend this book for those who enjoy friends to lovers, a man obsessed, epic revenge plots and a little bit of character growth thrown in.
