I cannot thank Kathryn Breaux enough for the ARC, I haven’t read a chunky (651 pages) book in so long that has gripped me like this has. I instantly fell in love with Mara, I resonated with her so much. She was so clearly hurting but couldn’t make sense of it properly, leaving her hollow…(I see what you did there Kathryn)
The twists, the turns, the OH MY GODS moments just kept coming and yet I still managed to adore the characters fully. Just when I thought I knew what was going on, we had another curveball, another WTF moment. I love fantasy, I love it even more in an urban setting. I feel like I can relate to the characters more…maybe that’s just me though.
Furthermore, I found myself wanting to strangle Mara and Crew at times, but only because they couldn’t get their heads out of their own asses and just communicate. Equally, I was kicking my feet at their shared moments, the sweetness between them.
Side characters can make or break a story, and boy did Hollow Huntress deliver, I could lie and say I couldn’t pick a favourite, but that’s exactly what it would be a bare-faced lie. Damien Whit you have my heart. He was equal parts sweetheart and comedy relief. Honestly the snarky comments and wind ups were top tier.
Overall, I laughed, I gasped, I yelled, I threatened violence to the Kindle gods and boy did I cry (Breauxs Crows has the evidence). Kathryn Breaux has cemented her place in my top three authors, my insta-buys. I cannot wait for the conclusion of the Death Duet and truly cannot recommend Hollow Huntress enough - run MO-FO’s get your gribby-grabby hands on it!
