Dare Me to Fall by Brittany Evermore

Daisy Jo and Brody meet in a bathroom line at a lounge and kick off an ongoing game of Truth or Dare that turns into something more as their connection grows. But as feelings deepen, Brody’s personal demons start circling, putting their fragile relationship to the test.
This is a quick, to-the-point romance, but the pacing feels uneven. The relationship moves too fast at the start, then drags through the middle, and finally speeds up again toward the end. I wanted more time inside these characters—especially Brody—so the emotional beats could land harder and feel more earned.
<spoiler>Brody's struggle with alcohol is heavily telegraphed, so the rehab turn isn’t surprising. What is frustrating is how much of that journey happens off-page. I really wish this had been dual POV. We never truly learn why he was drinking, what rehab was like for him, or how he plans to maintain sobriety afterward. With such weighty subject matter, skipping those details makes it feel unintentionally glossed over and weakens the emotional impact.</spoiler>
This book has a noticeably different tone and style compared to Evermore’s other work, especially Fake Gaming, which makes me curious to see where her voice goes next. There’s promise here, but I wanted more depth and follow-through to match the emotional stakes.
