Emma is sunshine personified. Quirky, lively, and impossible not to love. She’s also the fiercely loyal executive assistant—and best friend—to Cole.

Cole, on the other hand, is her complete opposite. Grumpy. Serious. Highly organised. The CEO of Bennett Dynamics and a man who keeps the world at arm’s length… except when it comes to Emma.

Their friendship shouldn’t work. The bubbly people-person and the closed-off, no-nonsense boss? On paper, it makes no sense. But somehow, for the past decade, it’s worked perfectly.

Almost too perfectly.

Because beneath the banter and the comfort of what they are lies the unspoken truth of what they could be. The problem? Neither of them is willing to risk everything they already have to find out.

This isn’t a book that promises deep, complex character exploration—and it doesn’t need to. What it delivers instead is a fast, fun, and incredibly entertaining read that balances humour and heart in all the right places.

Feri G’s writing is sharp, punchy, and effortlessly engaging. The dialogue is packed with brilliant one-liners, often reading like a perfectly timed comedy sketch that had me completely hooked.

And then… that ending.

I was having the best time—laughing, smiling, fully invested—when suddenly Feri threw the literary equivalent of a bucket of ice water over me. Absolutely not approved. I need book two immediately. Do I need to start a hunger strike? Because I will.

My thanks to Feri G., and Beth at Wings & Words for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
