Book: The Last Bride by Lexy Night

The Last Bride was a new fantasy romance story with Vampyres and humans living together in relative piece. According to a treaty where humans provide the vampyres with blood through donations while the vampyres provide protection. The Forlorn, vampyres driven to animal instincts due to drinking blood straight from humans, are attacking and killing humans across the realm and the vampyres are the only ones who can stop them.
The worldbuilding was so interesting, taking a well loved concept and providing a unique twist. The political intrigue around the various factions of vampyres, humans, and forlorn as well as the intrigue of the characters and their motivations all combined to make a fantastic story. I enjoyed the characters, Esiree wants what is best for humans and in her mind that is getting rid of the vampyres. She soon finds that the vampyre king is more than she expected and they have more in common in their goals than she imagines. As they begin to connect, their chemistry and tension begin to take off. I enjoyed the characters push and pull and interactions. Sometimes Esiree gets a little bull headed but you have to admire her conviction. This was the first book I have read by this author but I really enjoyed their writing and will continue to read more by them.
