Raegan and her guys are reluctantly working together to take down GE although some are definitely more on board than others. I think Kellan is the only one who gets a pass at this point; Jackson was up there but does make some seriously questionable choices. On the other hand he has always been all in with Raegan and he did do some damage to GE players. Dane is interesting as he has some massive revelations to unpick and I liked the slower pace of his relationship with Raegan. Aiden though has me really torn. I loved the game changing flashback reveal but his current actions are doing him no favours! I could completely empathise with Raegan's hurt at him treating strangers better than he did her and I'm really hoping Cassandra doesn't have a plan up her sleeve as they do not need any more obstacles!
I was hoping to see a little more development with Raegan; now that Vera is out there, I don't understand why she hasn't come clean on what actually happened. Maybe not to Aiden but at least to Kellan or Dane who knows part of the story. I did like the progress with training her gift though and I'm hoping we see more of her gift in action (or at least find out why it's so painful for her to use). Given the ending I feel like some of the gaps from year one post Vera may be revealed in the next book.
The audiobook cast are fantastic; great chemistry and performances all round. I'm really enjoying J F Harding in particular as intense Aiden as I know it's going to get so good when Raegan and him sort out their baggage! Harding has just nudged Christian Fox's Jackson out of the top spot; I'm really enjoying the restrained performance but I think we're going to see Jackson getting emotional in book three after that cliffhanger!
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
