Amelia would do anything to save her mother from the devastating diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. Living in a dystopian future, there’s an option. Merge. It’s a controversial merging of two consciousnesses into one body. It’s everything her dad fought against. It’s being pushed by the government & some billionaire tech bro. So obviously, both Amelia and her mother are giving it some serious thought… and some serious side eye.
The Merge had a fascinating plot line. It did do a good job questioning one’s morals, what lengths one would go for love, and the disturbing lengths the “system” will go to get their way. It’s thrilling, it’s tragic, and it’s deep. It challenges our thinking about the effects of overpopulation and global warming. It’s a good read, but wasn’t my vibe. I struggled to get into it. I think this book would be great for fans of sci-fi/dystopian type books.
