Back to Fletcher Mountain I go… and this time we’re following the youngest brother, Luke, and his relationship with Addison Monroe (Roe) in the latest Mountain Man Matchmaker installment.
I’ve read—and loved—the first two books in this series, but I have to be honest… this one had a slow start for me. The first 20% felt heavy on backstory, and as someone already invested in this world, I didn’t feel like all of it was necessary up front. If this is meant to work as a standalone interconnected series, I think that backstory could’ve been woven in more naturally instead of front‑loading the early chapters. I almost put it down a few times, but my love for this series kept me going.
And, it's a FACT, I’m so glad I pushed through.
Because once I hit that 20% mark?
The story clicked. We dive into a delicious
fake‑marriage/marriage‑of‑convenience setup where Roe needs a husband to inherit her family’s lumber yard… and Luke—her best friend with very real, very unspoken feelings—steps up. His golden‑retriever energy absolutely stole my heart. Loyal, patient, quietly pining… he’d do anything for Roe. And watching her slowly realize that their “fake” marriage wasn’t fake at all was incredibly satisfying.
As always, the real magic of this series is the cast. The quirky, lovable, chaotic crew of Fletcher Mountain is why I keep coming back. They make this world feel warm, goofy, heartfelt, and like a place I genuinely want to revisit again and again.
So yes—the beginning was a hurdle. But once I got past it, this became a fast, fun, swoony read. A solid 4‑star addition to a series I adore. And you know I’ll be picking up the next book the moment it drops this year.
