I am screaming and my mind is reeling. I didn’t expect to finish reading this book in the span of a day and I didn’t think I was going to be on a journey that spanned the past and the present. Gracie Sinclair and Danny Thompson grew up side-by-side as neighbors and best friends; the two of them went through the ups and downs of childhood, teenage trauma, and college plans going into adulthood. However, their relationship changes leading to an estrangement of ten years. What happens when Gracie shows up to Danny’s playoff game after all this time? Is there a chance for them to rekindle the past or is the past simply the past?
I have so many things I want to say about Facts and Feelings. But first and foremost, I love it. I love how the characters are older and I love how the narration between their older present selves and past younger selves weave such a gorgeous tapestry. Usually shifting timelines and alternating narrations throw me off but this is seamless and I love that that’s how Gracie and Danny’s story is shared. Also, while there is spice in the story, it’s done in such a way that makes sense given the relationship between Gracie and Danny - something about the way it’s presented, makes sense and is so inherently them…in fact, the book is all about them and I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to read it!
