This was such a unique and eerily dark story! Witches, humans, and vampires were all trying to live, or simply survive, without plunging themselves into war. The world was incredibly gloomy, but the witches' festivals were amazing. I'd have loved to be part of one of those whimsical celebrations! But, going back to the gloomy part, there was so much gore, so many body parts, and so many gruesome scenes... it was so gross, and I loved it!
Though I don't always enjoy insta-love between the main characters, Alliera and Dallin were such sweethearts that I was rooting for them from the very start.
I also loved the close and beautiful friendship between Alliera, Vix, and Elora. There wasn't anything romantic between them (or maybe there was something between Vix and Elora... I could never quite tell...), but at the end of the day, they were three pieces of the same soul, always caring for one another and having each other's backs. It was such a refreshing friendship to read about.
This is a short story, but it delivers incredible world-building, shocking twists, betrayals, and a devastating turn of events.
