I really liked the premise of this but unfortunately the spice to plot balance wasn't quite there for me. The whole concept of the Men of the Shepherd had me engaged; I'd have loved a bit more world building as I was struggling a little with how some of the magic worked but I really liked the idea of it all. I enjoyed the action in the last few chapters and would loved to have seen more of the powers on page.
The spicy scenes were written well, and while I liked the various dynamics at play, I think there was just one character too many for me in a standalone to give everyone decent development. There is an existing relationship in the book already and I did like how that continued although everyone is pretty much with everyone (excluding Riot, the other F, in the MMMMF/F). There are plenty of side characters too but I was beginning to lose track of who was who at certain points. I'll definitely be picking up the prequel though and it looks like like Jade has a story to tell!
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
