Dragon and the Furious

Book: Rider of Dragons by A.T. Qureshi

Rating: 4/5

This was a fresh take on a dragon fantasy. We have high stakes races, fantasy style fighting and mentality, but also cell phones. The full cast of characters feel well developed and I ate this book up!
The Good:
Fang. As with so many dragon based books, the dragons and their personalities take center stage. Fang is no exception and is effectively an adorable and pierce puppy.

Qais. He's clearly hiding some shit and is dark and disturbed. And I'm here for it.

The Ok
The races, while cool and often thrilling, can tend to get repetitive. They are such a large part of the book, but since the book is clocking in at under 400 pages, and there are 13 races (plus qualifiers). As a result, not as much development occurs outside the races.

The Eh
The setting. And this is 10000% a personal thing and did not effect my star rating. I can't wrap my head around a world that has both cell phones and dragons. I don't know why, but I can't.

Potential (unconfirmed) love triangle. I don't really love love triangles, and while this one isn't technically confirmed, it's pretty clear.

Ginny, our FMC, was somehow slightly unlikable but also very relatable. I enjoyed her growth throughout the book, and very much want to know how she is going to adapt to the events of the end of this book. Qais, my dude, just my dude. Zaviyar, time to stop being a fuckboy.
