Dracula

Book: Dracula by Bram Stoker

As a longtime Dracula fan, I was excited to jump into an unabridged audiobook that was an immersive, full-cast production.

Dracula is told in an epistolary style, so we learn about the characters through their diary entries, letters, and newspaper articles. However, with the incredible narrators and amazing sound design, this audiobook feels more like a radio play.

My one note is maybe don’t listen when you are walking your dog alone at night, because the wolves howling near Dracula’s castle sent me into a complete panic. This production layers the sounds subtly with the voice acting, creating a spooky, haunting atmosphere. It truly is an immersive experience!

The cast did an incredible job of bringing this classic horror tale to life. I was especially impressed by Lucas Weebly’s work as Dr. John Seward. Dr. Seward has always been one of my favorite characters in the Dracula story, especially as he is often changed to meet the needs of the adaptation. Weebly does an amazing job bringing forward the unique aspects of Seward’s character, letting us see him as a man of science, a disappointed suitor, and a concerned friend.

The teams at Daniele Lanzarotta’s Elysian Nightfall Studios and Briar Somerset’s Vellichor & Vein Press did an absolutely incredible job with this production of Dracula!
