What I loved most about this installment was the court intrigue, shifting alliances, betrayals, and constant tension. Vanessa is thrown into a deadly game where everyone seems to have an agenda, and figuring out who she can trust becomes just as important as taking down the throne.
And then there’s the romance! 👀 Between a forced engagement to the Crown Prince who betrayed her and a forbidden attraction to the Queen’s nephew, Vanessa’s heart is caught in just as much chaos as the rest of her life. The romantic tension adds another layer of danger without taking away from the larger political stakes.
The atmosphere is dark, ruthless, and full of twists, while Vanessa’s struggle to hold onto her humanity gives the story an emotional core. Watching her transform from someone who survived tragedy into someone willing to fight back makes for a compelling character arc.
If you love werewolves, deadly fae like courts, revenge, forbidden romance, political intrigue, betrayal, morally gray characters, and high-stakes romantasy, this duology is definitely worth picking up!
