The slow burn and yearning in this book was so well done! I was hooked in the first few chapters of this Urban Romantasy. The story follows along with a human girl named Loren. Loren lives in a world full of paranormal beings, Vampires, Demons, Witches, Monsters and more. But there is also groups of beings called The Devils. Each faction of the devils has their own hierarchy. Enter in Darien Cassel Dark Slayer and the head of The Seven Devils. He's hired to find a target, which brings him to cross paths with Loren after an attempt on her life by kidnapping. When Darien meets Loren, something shifts and he's not sure why/who wants a human girl, who are normally not valuable targets. The story continues as Darien feels the need to protect Loren and dig deeper on why she's being hunted by faceless enemies. Loren is not sure that she can trust him at first but as time progresses she realizes that Darien may be her only hope at surviving and finding her friend who was taken in Loren's place. The other 6 Devils are a great blend of side characters who play important parts within the story. I loved watching Darien and Loren's story unfold. The last 50% of this book takes you on a wild and emotional ride. I absolutely loved the storytelling and the main characters as well as the side characters. The story is unique and the world building is done so well. I am excited to dive into the next installment to see what happens next. I highly recommend this series to my Urban Dark Romantasy lovers. The spice level in this one is a 1.5 but the slow burn and yearning is so good!
