Revere had so many things you’d want in a dark romance. The yearning, steam, and undeniable chemistry between a professor and a student was salacious. This is an interconnected book series, so reading the other three previous books isn’t required to understand the plot.
I went in blind to the Sigma Sin universe and still got swept up fast. Jacob Gray strides on-page like a storm in a tailored suit, and the book wastes zero time telegraphing that he’s not here to be redeemed—he’s here to consume . He thaws out Patience’s ice queen personality and has her melting in his own manipulative hand.
As this is the last of the Sigma Sin series, there’s a lot of closure and character cameos. As someone who didn’t read the other books, I wasn’t lost, but I know I would have appreciated some beats that happened between characters had I read the other ones first. I feel like readers of the previous books will feel satisfied with how this book wrapped points up in the series. Patience seems to have a lot of closure in this book after all the trauma she’d been exposed to as a younger girl. Despite Jacob being a domineering man, he gives Patience the room and space she needs as long as she knows she’s his in the end.
One part I do wish I saw more was how the age gap in this romance created conflict in this book. Despite the book being a professor x student and age gap book, that risk and thrill a reader would expect isn’t there. However, there’s so much going on throughout the book that it’s sometimes hard to remember the ages of these actual characters. Jacob acts like every other MMC in a dark romance, and Patience acts like the expected FMC.
If you’re looking for a quick dark romance read, definitely pick up Revere . Please make sure to check the trigger warnings! I know I’ll be going back to read the rest of the series to fully appreciate all of the characters.
