To Desire A Devil jumps straight into the story, and I'm not mad at that.
This is a dark mafia romance which touches on, and contains some heavy subject and tropes, so please check the trigger warnings if you have any concerns.
Pfeiffer, our FMC is a nurse who has had to return to her chilhood home to care for her ailing father.
Fiero 'Il Diavolo' Bellucci, the head of a powerful and much feared mafia organisation, is owed a debt. When Pfeiffers deadbeat uncle steals from them, Fiero knows he won't have the money to pay them back, and meting out the usual punishment, isn't going to cut it. But there is someone else he can collect from...Pfeiffer, and he and his brothers have been waiting a VERY long time to get their revenge on her.
This was a story of two elements, the light and the dark alike. Both MC's live lives that have been heavily influenced by past trauma. Each has a dislike of the other too. Pfeiffer for what the Bellucci's represent, and Fiero, for aforementioned reasons.
Emotional conflict plays a prominent part in this book, as we witness revenge plans change and wither, as these two characters begin to understand the other more.
This is also a well-written spicy read, which Chapter Twenty-four giving a particular scene from Lights Out, a run for its money!! IYKYK!
The plot, for the most part was predictable, but I didn't mind that as there are so many mafia dark romances within the book world, and there are only so many plots. It was the characters that really made this book for me anyway, and I look forward to getting to know more about the Bellucci brothers as the series continues.
