Book: Embers of Magic by Catherine Bakewell

This book is cute and will make great winter reading for people who like to base their TBR on seasons! It’s another retelling of the Snow Queen, but I found it to be a very inventive and different-enough retelling that it felt like it could stand entirely as its own story. I loved the plot twists as they arose, and out of the secondary characters, Wolf was the perfect older/mature sister witch.
This is insta love done well, done sweetly - Fiamma falls for Prince Joseph right away, but their HEA is by no means on the swift horizon. Anybody familiar with the original tales of the Snow Queen will know why...in this case it’s not a shard of glass in his eye, but a curse that affects not only the prince but the entire kingdom. And unlike the original story, Fiamma is more than just the witch protecting him, and I loved the way her story is gradually teased out alongside his.
