Fated to the Pumpkin Prince os a new Cinderella retelling with a twist. It was a cozy fantasy romance about switched identity, second chances, and finding joy in difficult times. The story was engaging with vibes straight out of a fairytale but with more realistic characters. Elle wants revenge on the one she sees as the cause of her father's death and all of her misfortune. Reuben the prince doesn't see that there is anything wrong with his kingdom and people. He is willfully ignorant to the suffering and difficulties of his people. When he and Elle go on the run togethed, tensions and attractions begin to come to light. During their time together, Elle begins to see that Reuben had nothing to do with her father's death and forgives him. Reuben begins to see all sides of his kingdom and aims to become a better person. The tension and yearning between him and Elle was so sweet. The romance waz the driving factor of the story but it was a perfect fall fairytale read.
I would recommend this book if you enjoy fairytale retellings, enemies to friends to lovers, hidden identities, she teaches him to bake, and second chances.
