I have been waiting for Micah and Vanya ever since the absolutely insane chemistry between them in Stick Around, and thankfully, they delivered in every way I wanted them to.
Micah has fascinated me since his introduction in the Punk as Puck world because… of course, I wanted to know more about the man infamous for sending his friends those goblin videos (if you know, you know). But underneath the chaotic Playboy energy is someone carrying an incredible amount of fear, pain, and isolation. His storyline hit hard. He’s trying to manage a stalker who is blackmailing him while also hiding just how badly everything is affecting him. And honestly? The added vulnerability of Micah being blind makes the entire situation feel even more terrifying and invasive. It becomes painfully easy to understand why he eventually turns to Vanya—not just for physical safety but for emotional safety, too.
And Vanya? Absolute golden retriever perfection. He is patient, soft, and so deeply caring without ever feeling overbearing. I loved that even though he falls for Micah early, he never pushes him for more than he’s ready to give. There’s such tenderness in the way he loves Micah, especially in all the caretaking moments, and it makes their relationship feel incredibly emotionally grounded. More than anything, Vanya sees all of Micah—the messy, darker, hurting parts included—and chooses him fully anyway.
I also really hope we get more from Micah’s brother Caleb in future books because there’s clearly so much unresolved tension there. His anger and fractured relationship with Micah and Jonah feel layered enough that I’m already invested.
Overall, this is emotional, intimate, and packed with the kind of hurt/comfort dynamic that absolutely destroys me every time.
