I don’t even know how to start my review because my brain is just like, “oh my gosh, this book is absolutely perfect, and I love everything about it.”
Daniel “Arson” Hoyton is a member of the Crantham Kings hockey team who is obsessed with- I mean, absolutely hates- Lincoln Bellingham. These two are rivals on the ice and, thanks to the dark, intertwined history of their families, enemies off the ice.
Despite being giant hockey players, Lincoln and Daniel were sweet babies who were so adorable together, and their “I hate you. I hate you more. I hate you so much. I wanna give you this hickey” was so adorkable in a really sweet way, and I just loved them. Their chemistry is off the charts from the first page and keeps growing with each interaction.
The novel picks up the storyline from book one, this time focusing on the Hoyton Firm rather than the Thorpe or Volkov family. While Daniel and Lincoln explore their feelings through hate sex, the dark undercurrents of their worlds swirl around them, further complicating their situation.
Totally a side note, I loved Daniel’s mom! Given what we knew about the Thorpes and Volkovs, it was neat to see a family where the women had power and were treated like equals. Plus, I love that she teases Daniel for constantly bringing up Lincoln.
I devoured Callous Shot in one sitting and cannot wait for the next book!
