I love this. I love this story so, so, SO much. I also know that this particular genre and story isn’t for everyone but for me, it’s everything I want. I’m Chinese American and representation matters to me a lot. When I saw the ARC call and offering for The General’s Perfect Wife, I jumped at the chance because I was hopeful that it would fulfill my desire to see something familiar to me. I grew up watching Chinese historical dramas and I loved the gorgeous outfits, the graceful characters, the intelligent banter filled with hidden meaning, etc. and while I still enjoy them, I’ve been waiting for a book version of it and The General’s Perfect Wife by Julia Tong checks all my boxes and then some. The characters are wonderful (the sisters are a delight!) and I love the interaction between them especially once the slow burn starts going…I could not put this book down! I’m already looking forward to the rest of the series!
