Nathan and Logan’s teammates-to-lovers, loathe-to-love romance is packed with tension. The disciplined, tightly-wound goalie paired with a reckless party boy creates constant friction — and the chemistry is undeniable when they finally give in to the pull they’ve felt since day one.
I immediately connected with broody Nathan. As the coach's son, he faces immense pressure to lead the team (even though someone else wears the C), especially when he is tasked with watching over Logan. I loved watching Nathan settle into a happier version of himself, made to feel freer by Logan. Their relationship pushes him to consider what he really wants for his future and reach for goals that once felt impossible.
And Logan? His golden retriever energy is pure chaos in the best way. I love how he pushes Nathan’s buttons while simultaneously working his way beneath his defenses. He sees Nathan more clearly than anyone else in his life and encourages him to chase his dreams. In return, Nathan gives him a sense of belonging and family he’s been missing. The way they balance each other is genuinely beautiful.
I also appreciated how thoughtfully Nathan’s gay awakening and coming out were handled. Both felt realistic and emotional, and were treated with care.
It was great seeing couples from earlier books again — especially Austin. I missed his energy.
