This book surprised me, and I am here for it!
A lot of readers are saying “Bridgerton + magic.” Now, don’t come for me, but I don’t love Bridgerton. That era/period just isn’t for me. But the description of “Bridgerton + magic” is so accurate!! It brings the high society politics, marriage games, and Regency vibes, but sets them in a well-developed new world where most people have magical affinities, and their true power is only unleashed after the Blood Vow of Marriage.
Sabine never wanted to play their games, only make a way for her sister. But when she wakes up one day with a strange mark on her collarbone, she is thrust into the world of the Gilt and forced to join the Season, the marriage mart. And it gets worse: her mark responds to Azrian Vaelros, the Emperor’s Hand, a man known for his brutality and undying loyalty to the Emperor, signaling a fated pairing.

The enemies-to-lovers tension is well written and leads to a slooooooow burn that keeps you glued to the page (or screen!). The banter between Sabine and Az is so scrumptious… I could not get enough!
If you love Shield of Sparrows, The Kindred’s Curse Saga, and the Of Blood and Ash novels, this book is for you!
Solid 4.5🌟, and I can’t wait for Book 2!
