Huge thank you to Feiwel and Friends, Netgalley and Macmillian for the advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own and freely given.

Once again CG Drews has taken hours of sleep from me in their latest book. I mean, I too want a hot sea god to do my bidding, but also, I would also like to sleep with the lights off again. Because, you know, I am a grown up and all. Let’s be honest though, if Drews is writing it, I am reading it. Lights on, lights off, or with a support stuffed animal, I do not care. I am not missing a THING.

Holy mackerel, this book grabs you with a fish hook and does NOT let anyone throw you back. Clocking in at under 350 pages, this was absolutely PACKED with twists, turns, autism rep, and what happens when you wake a sea god for funsies. And on that last point… wow. Just, wow. I did not expect nearly half of what happened there. My heart broke over and over again. Jonathan wanted to be loved, wanted to be ENOUGH so much and for so many people. If I could have scooped that character up in a big old mom hug through the pages, I would have. His friends, his family, his community… they let him down in all the ways that mattered. And this, Scorpion Deep, is what happens when he decides that’s no longer enough. It’s time for someone, anyone… everyone to pay.

Scorpion Deep hits shelves October 27 and I am going to need to run to whatever your favorite way to consume books is and get this into your hot little hands. If you loved Hawthorne, Don’t Let the Forest In, and You Did Nothing Wrong, this is the crowning freaking glory of all that makes CG Drews the master of unsettling.
