I really wanted to sink my teeth into Blue Arrow Island because the Lost ( the show From if you're hip) vibes were initially spot on. The atmosphere of a lethal, savage paradise where the laws of science don't seem to apply,complete with mutant flora and a sense of deep, hidden history,kept me from DNF and interested enough to read the next book .
The mystery of the island itself is easily the strongest part of the book, and I found Marcus to be a great anchor for that tension, he’s a lethal, secret shrouded leader who fits perfectly into that morally grey ( enemy? maybe) archetype.
The execution ultimately felt crowded with everything and it's mom. Too much going on and not enough clarity. The plot tries to juggle high stakes survival, warring factions, and a complex scientific mystery, but it moves so fast that none of these elements get the depth they deserve. It felt scrambled rather than layered.
