Book: A Bookish Story by Heatherly Bell

Luci is going through a bunch of changes in her life when she takes a job as a research assistant for Ryan, a published author. I was immediately in love with the character of Luci from the beginning, as her awkward is so relatable. I, too, have curtsied in the middle of an overshare to a random new person. This book is very funny; Luci clearly gets her humor from her large, loving family.
There is tension and chemistry from the start between Ryan and Luci, but while their arc is a slow burn, there is so much more love in the story. Luci's extended family is drama filled, and all up in each others' business all the time, but you can feel the love between them as well.
I think the plot ended up being a little more about the family story than that of Ryan and Luci, but it was done so well that it didn't bother me too much. It is an extremely well written book. It had the feel of a regency romance (Luci's chosen genre) but still told in a contemporary way.
I recommend this book if you like laugh out loud stories, with close female relationships that are far from perfect, with the overall theme of finding a romantic partner.
Thanks to the author for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
