This Southern Belle loves some Southern charm! There is just something about a small-town Southern romance that gets this Southern belle every time, and Back to Home absolutely delivered that cozy country charm.
Cash was once Cameron Falls' resident wild child. After being accused of burning down a neighbor's barn, he left town and joined the military. Now he's finally come home a changed man, determined to make things right and prove he's no longer the troublemaker everyone remembers. One of the relationships he wants to repair is with Aubrey (the granddaughter of the very neighbor whose barn he was accused of burning.)
But Aubrey has a past of her own to contend with, and letting the town's former troublemaker get close isn't exactly high on her list of good ideas... even when her growing feelings for Cash say otherwise.
I really enjoyed watching these two navigate the baggage between them. Cash isn't simply coming home looking for romance; he's trying to reconcile the man he used to be with the man he's become, while Aubrey has to decide whether she's willing to see the person standing in front of her instead of the boy (and the reputation) she remembers.
And Cameron Falls itself is part of what made this one so enjoyable for me. Give me that small-town country atmosphere, Southern charm, complicated history, and two people trying to find their way toward each other, and I'm a happy reader. This is the third book in the Cameron Falls series, and it definitely left me wanting more time in this little town.
