Oh my goodness, what an absolutely delightful little audiobook! Sometimes you just need a sweet, funny, low-angst romance that makes you smile, and Baby Bump for the Mafia delivered exactly that.
Meet Dane, a powerful mafia boss, and Stephie, his incredibly capable personal assistant. She's secretly in love with her boss, and wouldn't you know it? He's secretly in love with her, too! Their relationship gave me serious Tony Stark and Pepper Potts vibes. Stephie keeps Dane's life running smoothly, knows where everything is, and basically holds his entire world together. Meanwhile, Dane knows all her likes, dislikes, and little quirks. These two are already practically a couple. They just haven't figured out how to tell each other! 😂 But things take a rather unexpected turn when their plane crashes on the way home from a business trip. Dane has been drugged by enemies hoping to eliminate the mafia boss, and in his delirious state, he and Stephie manage to find shelter in a cabin.With ONE bed, of course. Because romance rules. 😏
One thing leads to another, and Stephie experiences the most incredible night of her life. There's just one tiny problem. Dane thinks the entire thing was a dream. Oh, honey. 😂 And when Stephie discovers she's pregnant? Well, things are about to get VERY interesting!
This is a short, approximately 2.5-hour audiobook performed in duet style by Rex Matteo and Lucy Rivers , and I thoroughly enjoyed their performances. They brought so much charm and personality to these characters, making an already entertaining story even more fun.The romance is sweet, the chemistry is adorable, and the humor had me laughing out loud. Especially Dane's version of Old MacDonald . Apparently, when you're a mafia boss, the lyrics go something like: "Old MacDonald had a knife... with a stab-stab here and a stab-stab there..." 🔪😂 I absolutely LOST IT.
Is this a gritty, complicated mafia romance? Nope. And that's precisely why I enjoyed it! It's a charming, slightly ridiculous, wonderfully entertaining little mafia rom-com that doesn't take itself too seriously.
My verdict: A quick, sweet, funny audiobook that left me smiling. Perfect when you need a lighthearted romance with a little mafia mischief!
(And somebody PLEASE keep Dane away from the nursery rhyme books. 😂🍼🖤)
