Book: Murder at Maisies by Lyla Blue

I have listened to the series out of order but this still kept me engaged despite knowing the outcome (as the culprit is mentioned by name in later books). It is cosy duet with Hallmark x Cabot Cove vibes and a hint of romance and a great quick listen. Eleanor Caudill is perfect as Clare who finds herself embroiled in a mystery after finding the victim. Clare is very sweet and kind but her little flashes of anger and jealousy now and again keep her on the right side of being a Mary Sue. Sebastian York is always great but his Jackson was probably my favourite. There are some darker hints to his past and upbringing but on the whole its a pretty low angst story. Similarly with the romance, I was expecting some more rivalry between Jackson and Blake but the love triangle is very much three separate lines at the moment. I did like the showdown with Jackson and Claire on the porch though and was here for that tension!
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
