Brooklyn and her guys may have escaped Blackwood but it is far from over and Incendia's reach is not to be underestimated. There are some really good twists and turns which I didn't see coming; one in particular blew the Logan reveal from book two out of the water and that was a very high bar!
I found Brooklyn a little difficult to connect with in this one compared to the first two books. However, once we got to the final few chapters and the ending it really me appreciate her journey more; Brooklyn wasn't magically cured after getting out of Blackwood and I liked how she came to that realisation too. Bridget Bordeaux puts in a great performance as Brooklyn has a lot to work through before she comes out the others side.
For the MMCs, Nyx and Seven have the most to deal with, and my heart broke for Nyx. Grant Armstrong's performance was really strong and I think his Nyx was probably my favourite of the roles. I did miss Kade though who always seemed to be on his laptop and he just felt slightly apart to everyone else. He seemed to have less one on one time with Brooklyn compared the other MMCs within the group too and I did wonder if that meant he was going to end up with Sadie at one point.
I read the Sabre Security series first and it was really interesting meeting those characters before the event which changed everything for them. For anyone who has read the series out of order, that reveal may have been my favourite part!
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
