When Your Wingman Wants to Be Your Leading Man! πŸ˜‚πŸ”₯
Well, this was a delightful surprise! Attracting the Ambassador was my first book by Hadley Grey, and I enjoyed it so much that I've already downloaded the first two books in the series!
Dottie is the ambassador of Portum Tutum, and she's facing a rather inconvenient deadline. With a milestone birthday approaching, she must marry or lose her prestigious title. And wouldn't you know it? Her siblings are practically waiting for her to fail- especially her brother, who would love nothing more than to claim her position for himself. Dottie believes she's found a suitable husband in Oliver, one of the Sages (an elite group of alien beast warriors). He's reserved, respectable, and seemingly the perfect choice for an ambassador who needs to maintain her political standing. But then there's Kemp.
Oh, KEMP! πŸ˜‚ He's the Sages' pilot, with a larger-than-life personality and absolutely NONE of the polished political manners Dottie is accustomed to. He's bold, flirtatious, outrageous, and completely impossible to ignore. And once Kemp meets Dottie? Well, let's just say he has a few ideas of his own about whom she should marry! His brilliant plan? Offer to be her wingman and teach her how to attract his friend Oliver. Yep, the man is obviously brilliant! πŸ˜‚ The banter between Dottie and Kemp was absolutely delightful. Their chemistry was fun, flirty, and full of personality, and I loved watching Dottie struggle to resist a man who is everything she probably shouldn't want. I also enjoyed the contrast between Dottie's refined diplomatic world and Kemp's unapologetically larger-than-life personality. He doesn't exactly fit the mold of the politically appropriate husband she's supposed to choose, which makes their dynamic even more entertaining. While the romance is playful and fun, there are also some intense and violent moments when battles break out, so don't expect the entire story to be lighthearted. This is apparently the third book in the series, but I had no trouble enjoying it as my introduction to Hadley Grey's world.
My verdict: A wonderfully entertaining alien romance with a feisty ambassador, an outrageous pilot, fantastic banter, and a wingman who clearly has his own romantic agenda! I had so much fun with this one, and I'm already looking forward to exploring the earlier books.
