What on earth was that and where was the plot? The whole book was spent in a cave!
This sounded so good, Iโm so upset.
Ok, maybe8% was travelling to the cave but still. I love me a smut read, but this was pointless, like, nothing was explained, there was no development, there was red flags just for the sake of it and not in a sexy way or even a cruel - treat her mean keep her keen way. Just pointless. I genuinely am shocked at what happened here, I kept waiting for details, history, explanationsโฆ some depth somewhere, but none came, then a new thing happened and I thought- aah this is where Iโll get more info, but NOPE!
The language used is really unpleasant to read, thereโs the f word used quite a lot, but itโs not needed. Iโm an avid swearer but this story just wasnโt sitting right with that particular swear. There was also the use of the word โmensesโ- as in mensuration time, is this author a teenager? If so I get it, if not then uh?? He also had โring fingersโ mentionedโฆ? It really didnโt flow with such a variety of modern language in such an old world time period-they were casting the FMC out for being a witch, relied on fire for light and warmth and men were still controlling abusive a55holes, mix that with the clothing described and I jumped back to the 1500โs.
I think Iโm most annoyed at the lack of explanations, for example the mayor was selfish, controlling and self important, but why? What made him that way? How long had he been cruel? Did the village elect him or was he self appointed and keeping his title through fear alone? Why did no one else stand up to him? Not even the men- too scared? Or did they agree?
The FMC was imprisoned for having magic but- first the village used and sold her magical talents so they didnโt mind too much and clearly werenโt all that afraid of her. She then committed a crime but why was she imprisoned and starved so long before trial? Why were they still not scared of her?
More things that werenโt explained- whatโs an aspire?
Why does his blood make everything magically possible all of a sudden, before he needs physical clothes, now though he can contour magical ones!? Hid blood allowed all sorts of stuff to happen- why? How? Why not do that in the first place then? Did he know it had that effect?

A mum is mentioned for 2 sentences, adoptive parents are brought up twice, and we get 2 scenes with the mayor. Oh sorry, and a council of elders pops into the story for some voyuerism at some point. But the story is 2 people in a cave in a volcano. No character development, no rising up from self loathing pity spirals, no overcoming hurdles to be the person they deserve. Just yer I treated you badly, so what, I declare your mine now so thatโs that and Iโll name you my queen.

I managed to finish it but it was rubbish. I won't keep a physical copy and won't recommend it, but it's a shame as the plot could have made a good book in another author's hands

It was OK. I wish I didn't start this one as it didn't do it for me as I struggled to read it. It had an interesting premise that fell flat but I had to see what happened in the end.

I don't regret reading it, and I will read the next one, but this one did have a few flaws. [These could be repetitive writing, gaps or plot holes, better character growth or world building, areas needing more detail]
Generally, the book lacked depth and became confusing. The plot resonated with me even though it annoyed me on the whole.

I'm glad I read it. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to the right people, but I wanted more! Sadly, it's easily forgettable with a few issues I just couldn't overlook/get past.

Good book! I loved it, but... I needed more! I really did enjoy it, but it had a few parts that needed more detail or added history/background or lore. But that's because the story or characters were memorable, and the plot was strong with brilliant twists. I would re-read if I needed to catch up for the next book and would recommend.

Great book! I truly wish the story had been thought about more, or the author had been given more time as this book is so close to brilliance! I will likely read again and will definitely be recommending it to all!

This is my God level tier. The book must be perfectly memorable. Even after reading 50+ more books, I will remember character names and emotions along with the plot. If there is a special edition, then I need to own it! If there is a conversation on books- I'm talking about this!
