I found the concept of this retelling really interesting, especially getting to see a glimpse into the way of life of the Amazons.
The story first follows Queen Hippolyte before shifting to her sister, Queen Penthesilea. I loved seeing the references to the Trojan War woven into the story!
I have to admit, Queen Hippolyte frustrated me a little, particularly with her decisions and how things unfolded with Theseus. I found myself wishing things had gone differently for her.
Overall, an interesting retelling of the Amazons and their stories. 4 stars!
