If you put She's the Man, Mulan, and Divergent training into one book, this is what you'd get! šāļø
I was on the edge of my seat reading this one! There's so much happening, and I loved seeing Bri navigate the challenges thrown her way.
Bri is such a well-written character, and I really enjoyed watching her grow throughout the story. What I particularly liked was that she doesn't suddenly become an overpowered FMC. Instead, she gradually becomes stronger, more confident, and better able to defend herself while still carrying the emotional baggage and trauma from her past. Her growth felt much more believable because of that.
There are quite a few bullying scenes, and some of the trauma Bri experiences is pretty heavy, so definitely check the trigger warnings before picking this one up.
And Drake and Rivian... I love them both! š I'm not sure how I'm supposed to choose, not that there was much romance but I enjoyed seeing how they each fit into the story.
The ending leaves us on a cliffhanger, and now I NEED to know what happens next!
Definitely recommend this one if you enjoy fantasy, intense training, character development, and a story that keeps you turning the pages. I can't wait for the next book! ā¤ļø
