Being back with the Langfield crew feels like going home. Adeline Langfield is coming home to Boston to be the new goalie coach for her favorite NHL team, the Bolts. Moving into the famous brownstone she grew up in as a kid and helping out with her nieces and nephews is a bonus. Then she realizes her dad invited her best friend/ex-its-complicated to live in the same brownstone. So now, not only will she be forced to work with JJ, he and his adorable daughter are living with her as well.
There are a lot of things about this book that harken back to Mother Faker. The brownstone with too many kids (and a couple generations of racoons as well), the entire Langfield clan popping in and out constantly, and way too many ducks.
Adie makes for a great character. She is strong and confident, but still has her vulnerable moments. I loved seeing her realize her dreams throughout the book- its so inspiring. And the way she loves JJ's daughter is beautiful. The relationship they build is super special and again paralells to her relationship growing up with Beckett.
JJ is so sweet, and I cringed seeing how he fumbled his chance with Adie the first time. He is everything I want to see in a single dad, and the way he puts her first is admirable. I was rooting for Adie and JJ through the whole book- I couldn't wait to see them figure their stuff out.
This book is for fans of hockey, fans of single dads who are incredible to their kids, women who refuse to shrink in their professional or personal lives, and anyone who loves to see a huge group of people who love each other like family-and have no boundaries. I already can't wait for the next couple to fall.
