Lauren and Alexei run in to each other in Vegas and end up participating in a wedding flash mob- as one does- after which Alexei pulls a ghost act again. Months later he shows back up in her city saying it was never a joke, guess what, we're actually married!
Poor Lauren has been through the wringer with the hunk she had a crush on and short fling with in college. In the midst of trying to start her own boutique sports agency and waiting on her supposed "safe" choice boyfriend to propose is of course when Alexei decides to come back into her life and start something again.
I spent a lot of this book frustrated at both characters for being so stubborn and independent. A little clear communication would save them both some heartache, but alas, then we wouldn't have this adorable book.
The Chicago Rebels crew is all present and causing chaos. The relationships with all the family and friend groups are always a blast to read.
Alexei is peak tall dark and broody, keeping everything he is going through close to his chest, yet totally swoony for the way he cares for his father and Lauren too. I appreciated his restraint on fully making a move on her until it's clear that Thad is out of the picture as well.
This book is funny and has tons of sweet and romantic moments- and Thad of course gets what is coming to him for being not so "safe" after all. It was an excellent read.
