A real estate developer, Briar Sinclair, breezes into Blue Sy Bay with a single objective: get Bass Bennett to sell his restaurant to the Winchester Group so they're able to develop the land into a new hotel. Unfortunately for her, Bass is hell bent on riding out his current lease and figure out what's next for him in that two years.
Being a part of the Winchester family, Bass has preconceived notions about Briar, her motives, and whether or not he can trust her, but the more persistent she becomes in town and in his friend group, the more Bass realizes maybe their backgrounds aren't that different and his initial opinions of her might be changing against his will.
While they're business colleagues and should be off-limits, the pair really find it hard to stay away from each other, and working in close quarters on the future of his restaurant is ready to blow all of their plans out of the water.
The Last Goodbye snuck up on me in a way I wasn't expecting. Their shared struggles added a lot of depth in their shared experiences and were pretty critical in the development of their relationship, in my opinion. Laura Pavlov also does a great job at writing found family, and Briar finally getting to have relationships that feel genuine and rekindling her love for small towns was one of my favorite parts of the book.
I am SO excited for the next book in this series because Phoenix is suchhhhh a grump and I can't wait to dig into his layers.
