Huge thank you to St. Martin's Press | Saturday Books, Macmillan Audio, and Netgalley for the copy of this book and audiobook. All opinions are my own and freely given.

I don’t know what’s in the water this fall, but whatever it is, it’s given all the women ALLLL the sharp things. And I LIKE IT. Revel was no shrinking flower, this girl was not taking any bullshit at any point. Disgraced family? Doesn’t matter. Fighting for her life? Always with the verbal barb and the sharp edge of a knife. Being destroyed emotionally over and over again? Oh wait, that was me. This was so sharp, and so cutting. Revel was desperate to win a competition that had every single odd stacked against her. Seeing her get SO close only to have the rug yanked out from under her over and over again. Woven together with a fast-paced action and Japanese and Greek mythology, this was a fantastic read.

I was also lucky enough to get to listen to the audiobook of This Wretched Alchemy, and narrators Jennifer Ikeda and Soneela Nankani did a great job bringing the book to life with the characters. At first, I wasn’t entirely sold on Revel’s voice actor, thinking she sounded older than Revel was in the story, but as the book progressed she grew on me. It started to make sense why Revel sounded a little older than she was in the story, the burdens she’d carried to make her who she was.

Four super sharp pointy things for me on this one!

This Wretched Alchemy hits shelves on Nov 10, and I think you’ll want to grab one for yourself!
