A fantastical tale of the high seas. A tale about women in men's professions. A tale of survival.
Listening to this audiobook felt like getting lost in the best type of pirate lore.
Lady Catrine Rose, voiced by the incredibly talented Fiona Hardingham, takes us on a journey as both the young lady and the older and wiser Widow Rose.
Then there's Valerian Kane, who is voiced by the always amazing Shane East. Dangerous, daring, and the only man Lady Rose has ever truly loved.
To paraphrase one of my favorite tv shows - their story spans years and continents, lives ruined, and blood being shed, it's truly epic and I didn't want this book to end.
Rich prose, incredible characters, and a world full of conflict - this is a book to just sit and let the tale unfold while you enjoy a mug of your favorite drink to fight off scurvy.
