This book combines magic, pirates, royalty, and mythology in a perfect way. E.K. Condos had me hooked and the narrating cast of the audiobook (Stella Bloom, Anthony Palmini, Gail Shalan, and Salem Udean) only enhanced this magical tale.
Katrin is waiting for her 25th birthday. Not only will she become Queen of Alentus and come into her powers, but she will also be marrying her “fated mate” Kohl. She has worked hard to forget the torment that she suffered at the hands of the King of Nexos, and the nightmares finally had stopped, until now. Is it the stress of the upcoming Acknowledgment, her future father-in-law arriving, or the rumors that there could be an attack from none other than the island of Nexos?
Never did she expect that she would be kidnapped by a pirate, and fear the same fate was to happen to her all over again. She will learn a lot about herself, her magic, the Fates, and her current captor. She will have to decide who to trust, when to fight, and when to run.
I am slightly terrified to start the second book in the series, but excited at the same time. I highly recommend the audiobook. Just trust me on that.
