Give me dark academia, a twisty paranormal mystery, and an enemies‑to‑lovers romance, and I’m instantly in celebration mode. This book delivers all of that with a super twist that is unreal! The mood is tense, eerie, and addictive, and while it starts as a slow burn, it pulls you in fast.
We follow Ellory Morgan, a scholarship student returning to Warren Academy after three years away, only to run straight into her academic nemesis, Hudson Graves—rich, brilliant, and infuriating. Campus life unfolds through sharp character moments, from her selfish roommate to her forbidden newspaper ambitions, all while strange déjà vu and impossible memories make her question reality.
Things shift when she attends an elite dinner as Hudson’s plus one. A disturbing mirror reflection and a mysterious handwriting clue confirm her fears: the weirdness is real. And the only person who can help her is the last one she wants—Hudson.
As reluctant allies, they dig into the academy’s secrets, including eight unexplained student deaths. The deeper they go, the more Ellory realizes the anomalies might be targeting her next.
The first half simmers, but the second half erupts—twists, reveals, and a finale that’s both shocking and satisfying. I’m so glad I stuck with it; once it takes off, it’s genuinely mind‑blowing.
