I love this series and the full cast audio continues to blow me away! Savage is still my absolute favourite and I have missed his crazy self; I'm glad he wasn't away for too long as the Boneweaver pack just isn't the same without him and I missed the energy Ryan Lee Dunlap's brought when he was gone! This is Scythe's story and he just broke my heart as we learn just how big a heart this man has. The parallels between Scythe and his mother were really emotional and running alongside Aurelia's relationship with her mother too added so much depth and development to both of the characters and their grief journeys. Scythe is so controlled at all times and I loved the way Sean Masters leaned into this whilst also showing how his grip was slipping when it came to Aurelia. The longing was real and the angst was tangible. I was swooning all over the place!
I believe the bond between Lyle, Scythe and Savage but Xander has always seemed to have kept himself separate. I understand that he doesn't want to mate Aurelia but he doesn't seem to have a connection with anyone (even though he has known Scythe and Savage for years) and I'm struggling with his character currently. I need to know why he hates everything so much and after that ending it's a toss up between him and Ghoul for the title of Worst Mate. I seriously think Beak should be given a chance after that cliffhanger!
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
