Alright, I’m ready to back my bags and move to Honey Badger Creek. 🧳
Hattie has come to Whispering Pine Ranch to meet her biological father after 25 years of being lied to by her mom about her actual parentage. While there, she meets grumpy ranch hand, Lincoln…and although things may start off poorly, they’re both too sweet to not fall in love with. 🥰
Hattie is at a crossroads after recently medaling in show jumping at the Olympics, unsure of where she wants her life to go from here. Lincoln is an eldest son who has taken it upon himself to take care of his family after the death of their parents, as well as taking on all the work at his late father’s best friend’s ranch (aka Hattie’s father’s ranch).
I found both of their stories compelling, and Lincoln’s in particular, fairly emotional at certain points.
I loved their love story, and them falling for each other as they’re thrown together, and realizing maybe the other person isn’t as bad as their first impressions may have been…
Along with the romance, I also loved the budding relationship between Hattie and her newly discovered father, and grandfather. So many sweet moments that had me feeling all the feels.
And the rest of the side characters? Loved. Them. All! Side characters are always my favorite part of these small town/western romances, and I am already dying to get all of their stories as this series progresses!
Overall, an excellent introduction to this town and series; already looking forward to the next!
Audiobook notes: DUET Narration! I don’t think I’ve had the pleasure of listening to either Christian Fox or Kat Auden before, and I thought they were both excellent in this one. Great voices and performances. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for them in the future!
