I was skeptical Abby Millsaps could bring Sawyer and her men back together after that brutal cliffhanger… but she delivered. She promised them all a happy ending — and she earned every bit of it. I have never been happier to be wrong.
Healing and hope are the driving forces here. Each character has to confront their personal trauma before they can hope to build something sustainable together. They do it with the support, love, and accountability of the others.
My heart broke watching Sawyer spiral after pulling away from the men she loves. She believes disappearing is the only way to protect them, but all four of them are left wrecked in the process. Maybe it’s the mom in me, but I was genuinely sweating at points, worried for her safety.
I’ve spent months crawling out of my skin with worry for Tytus. He’s my favorite of the Evercrisp Orchard men (sorry, not sorry — Canadian hockey players just do it for me), and he was left in the most precarious position at the end of book two. Watching him grow to realize that loving Sawyer means prioritizing her happiness — even when that includes the other men — was deeply satisfying.
And Mercer? I wanted to hate him for what he did to Tytus, but, much like Sawyer, I just can’t quit him. The group needs his commanding presence and steady leadership as they navigate their new dynamic — especially when emotions (and group play) run high.
Finally, sweet Noah. I adore this dirty-talking cinnamon roll. It hurt watching him process his grief and buried trauma. While it was hinted at before, it takes center stage here. His relationship with Tytus might be the most quietly powerful of them all — and maybe even the most healing.
