All the pining!

Book: Edge of Steel by Elizabeth Dear

Avery is racing up the rankings of favourite FMCs! I love how she didn’t let those guys off with how they treated her in Clash of Claws. Avery is very honest with how their betrayal felt and the pining is real! As much as I love fated mates, I enjoyed that this connection didn't override everything and the guys all had to earn their spots back by Avery's side.

There is more to this than just the grovel though as Avery focuses on being the best Guardian she can be. She is such a capable FMC and is really put through her paces not only with training but also by others who feel she should know her place. There are plenty of actions scenes which show just how talented she is though even if some people needs more convincing than others!

Ian had my favourite one liners in the last book but some of Wyatt’s observations had me cackling. I love how the humour slotted in among the action and the angst. The mystery of what happened to Elijah’s mother is still prevalent too and I can’t wait to see what happens in book three as Elijah on a revenge mission will be something else!

Elijah is my number one MMC (the Cash incident scored him a million points) although I think it’s ultimately going to end up being Heath as I have a soft spot for a self-sacrificing leader! I loved the reason he didn't tell Avery about Clara and I didn't doubt for one minute that he would have stepped back if it meant Avery forgave the others.

Highly recommend if you like an angsty fated mates romance with a gives as good as she gets FMC, great world building, mystery and slow burn spice added in!
