Book: Heir to Heaven and Hell by Kerry Hart

Heir to Heaven and Hell was such a good adventure. It had Heaven and Hell, an afterlife academy, magic, battles, romance, spice and a mystery that made it difficult to know who was telling the whole truth.
Rori and Archer were my favorite badass couple. I loved them together, but I also liked seeing Rori slowly let other people into her life. Emma, Callan and Orson were a great addition to the story and became the found family she never had.
I also liked that Heaven and Hell weren’t shown as simply good and evil. Lucifer may be the villain but some of what he says turns out to be true, while both sides are hiding secrets. That doesn’t excuse his actions but it gives Rori plenty of reasons to question what she has been told. I guess we won’t know the full truth until Book Two.
A few details about the afterlife didn’t completely make sense to me, like why people who are already dead still need food and money. I decided to accept it as part of the author’s imagination and enjoy the adventure.
This book gets dark, violent and very spicy, so check the content warnings. The ending leaves a huge question hanging over everything, and that cliffhanger was cruel! I’m already impatient for Book Two.
