What a sweet story from the Courage to be Me series by Peni Clark! I’ve also read Kiki Finds Her Way, and both of these stories teach kids a valuable lesson in being yourself and recognizing how your strengths can help others. Jenny’s Journey of Faith tells the story of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem from the point of view of the donkey Mary rode. Jenny was the smallest of the donkeys, but Mary saw something in her that made her choose the little donkey to carry her for the long journey. And while the book’s release is perfect timing as the Advent season fast approaches, this is a beautiful lesson any time of year as Jenny’s journey teaches us to be humble, kind, and loving (does that sound like someone who comes in at the end of the story?) while not giving up.
