Wowza.
Airabeth truly is a breath of fresh air. I honestly am at a loss for words.
As a reader, I personally love stories where characters are tied to things like the 7 deadly sins. So the 'Masters' being tied to aspects of the human soul was right up my alley. The 'Emperors' are the other half, though we don't see much of their side in this book.
This story is dark; like within the first few chapters. I HIGHLY suggest reading trigger warnings and checking the themes out before you begin reading. I love a dark fantasy, and that's exactly what this is. Airabeth is definitely intense at times.
Nadia, our FMC, goes through so much during her trials. She's never quite sure whether she will survive, and many times is ready to just give up. As a person who has lives with depression (MDD), I relate so much to her. Those moments of weakness where you just don't want to fight anymore, or where you think you can't hurt anymore than you already do just to be proven wrong. Those moments connected me to her.
My only wish is that we got to see more of Cruelty throughout the story. I am sure his story will be more in the next book, but it leaves you wanting more (which is probably the point 🤦♀️). From the very beginning, I knew something was different. But man, how I would LOVE some more chapters from his POV.
