This book surprised me in the best way! At first I wasn’t sure what to expect, but by the end I was completely hooked. The twists, the political trials, the blood oath, the hidden identity reveal… every thread tied back into the worldbuilding in a way that felt intentional and earned.
Lessia is such a compelling FMC. I love that she isn’t perfect, and that’s exactly what made her believable. She’s scarred, stubborn, and often raw with emotion, yet her resilience kept me rooting for her through every trial. The reveal about her family and her past floored me, and the way it all came full circle made the final act so satisfying.
Merrick and Loche both bring different flavors of broody MMC energy, and I really appreciate that I don’t know who the ultimate love interest will be. It made the tension feel sharper and kept me invested in the long game. The last 50 pages especially went hard, tying together the family dynamics in a way that left me desperate for book two.
This gave me all the best romantasy vibes with a sharp political edge: hidden identities, slow burn tension, fae vs. human conflict, dangerous trials, and a heroine who is stronger for her scars. I’ll definitely be continuing the series!
